Chart Pattern Evaluation Reports

Numerous trading books make reference to various chart patterns that are suggested to be indicative of either a change in trend or a continuation of the trend. After attempting to apply the “rules” of these patterns without exhaustive testing and not meeting the measure of success anticipated it became clear that some back testing on the Auld Tyma's favoured markets was in order. 

Using the scripting functions provided in the Optuma (by Market Analyst) software, a suite of scripts where developed for the purpose of the evaluation of chart patterns. The results of those evaluations have been collated into the reports listed below, and for those reviewing the results, in many cases one has to ask one’s self is it worth looking for these patterns given the low instance of the patterns over the many years evaluated, and in many cases the unacceptable implied outcomes.

These results apply to the markets the Auld Tyma is interested in. As can be seen from the performance of those markets evaluated, the results vary significantly from market to market. Accordingly, testing of the patterns in the markets being traded is essential to confirm their veracity or otherwise.

The Chart Part Evaluation Reports are available in two forms:
