Wright Aeronautical to Curtiss-Wright Corporation

W D Gann discussed many markets that are hard to study without complete chart data to enable seeing his descriptions in context, his discussion of Wright Aeronautical and Curtiss-Wright Corporation in his books “Wall Street Stock Selector” and “New Stock Trend Detector” published in early 1930 and 1936 respectively among them.

This prompted the Auld Tyma to go on a search for the Wright Aeronautical and Curtiss-Wright Corporation market data. This meant searching back through the financial pages of the New York Times newspaper, and where that did not have the required information or was unreadable, the Wall Street Journal through the period 1921 to 1946, when Curtiss-Wright Corporation ceased the production of aircraft. 

That search revealed that the Wright brothers, on 22 November 1909, first established the Wright Brothers Aeroplane Company which later morphed through various iterations including Wright Aeronautical Corporation, ultimately merging with Curtiss Aeroplane and Motor Company to form the Curtiss-Wright Corporation that listed on NYSE on 22 August 1929. After that merger, Wright Aeronautical Corporation continued to be listed and traded on the NYSE, albeit irregularly at very low volume.

Thus was created the market data history of both the Wright Aeronautical and Curtiss-Wright Corporation from the Wright Aeronautical 's first reported listing on 23 June 1921 until Curtiss-Wright Corporation stopped their aircraft production activities in 1946.
