First Lower Top, First Higher Bottom Layers & Scripts

Why First Lower Top & First Higher Bottom Layers & Scripts?

Many traders use First Lower Tops ("FLT") and First Higher Bottoms ("FHB") on Gann Swing Charts following significant Tops and Bottoms as entry points for trades.

Being able to quickly identify significant Tops and Bottoms, or "Pivots", along with their subsequent FLTs and FHBs and assessing their past performance as such trade entry points is very important and made easier if they are clearly identified by SHOWBAR highlights on an Optuma market chart.

Pivots  are  coincident with Gann Swing Chart Tops and Bottoms, but with limiting criteria in their relationship with the Bars before and after the Gann Swing Top and/or Bottom.

The significant Top and Bottom Pivots identified in these Scripts are those Gann Swing Tops and Bottoms with  11 Bars, both before and after the Pivot, which are below the Top Pivot or above the Bottom Pivot. (11 Bars on a Daily chart is approximately equivalent to half a calendar month.)

Using the First Lower Tops & First Higher Bottoms Layers & Scripts...

The FLT & FHB Layers and Scripts are available in  two forms as:

  • a PDF file which may be downloaded that contains the Script descriptions and codes  and those Scripts may be copied into Optuma's Script Manager by the Optuma user, and/or as
  • Optuma Layers that can copied into the Layer folder of Optuma and then applied to charts as desired.

NOTE: Review the note "Installing Optuma Layers and Scripts" to ensure the imported Layers and Scripts work as intended.

The Layers, when applied to a chart, will identify the significant Tops with a dotted vertical line and their related FLT with an Arrow above the FLT, and for the significant Bottoms, with a dashed vertical line and an Arrow below the FHB.

Included in the Layers are CHART ELEMENTs that will annotate the chart with the total number of significant Tops and Bottoms and FLTs and FHBs highlighted.
